According to the latest market assessment, current PV module imports adequately meet U.S. installation demands, particularly following slower deployment rates in mid-2024. However, the report identifies significant challenges in transformer availability and workforce dynamics.

The transformer bottleneck stems from utility requirements favoring non-Chinese equipment, creating supply constraints due to limited production capacity outside China. While manufacturers have announced plans for U.S.-based transformer production facilities, these solutions may take years to materialize and meet growing market demands.

The workforce situation presents a more nuanced challenge. Current construction sector statistics show near-equilibrium between job openings and available workers, with a ratio of 1.09 workers per position. This tight labor market occasionally creates temporary bottlenecks for engineering and construction firms managing expanding project portfolios.

The report also provides insights into market pricing trends:

  • Module supply contracts in Chinese markets average $0.10 per watt

  • N-type solar products dominate new tenders

  • Heterojunction technology commands premium pricing

  • Bifacial modules maintain higher pricing due to enhanced performance capabilities

This analysis suggests that while panel supply chains have stabilized, infrastructure and workforce development remain critical factors for industry growth.
