Disneyland Paris Unveils Europe's Largest Solar Shade Park

Europe’s largest solar shade park resides at Disneyland Paris, a testament to its commitment to sustainability. The expansive 20-acre parking lot now boasts 82,000 photovoltaic (PV) panels, generating a total capacity of 36.1 MWp. Spearheaded by French solar developer Urbasolar, in collaboration with Swiss Axpo Holding AG, the project took three years to complete, with construction beginning in 2020.

The installation not only serves as a green energy solution but also addresses climate change concerns by mitigating the heat island effect in the parking lot. With 11,200 parking spaces covered by solar panels, the park anticipates an annual output of 36 GWh, fulfilling approximately 17% of its electricity needs. This sustainable initiative aligns with Disneyland Paris' climate change adaptation plan, showcasing its dedication to environmental responsibility.
